On Monday, November 6, 2017, Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity notified the California Phi Iota Chapter at San Diego State University of the Fraternity’s decision to revoke the Chapter’s Charter.

Recent actions by members of the CA Phi Iota Chapter caused the Chapter to be placed on suspension by both the University and the Fraternity earlier this fall.

"This unanimous decision was difficult yet necessary”, said Fraternity President, Adrian Gonzalez. "Our intention is to use this process as a means to continue our Board’s long-term vision of supporting chapters aligned with our Mission, Vision and Values.”

The Fraternity Board reviewed and discussed the chapter’s behavior over the last few years and determined that the Chapter’s culture no longer aligns with the Fraternity. As a result, the Board of Trustees unanimously voted to revoke the Charter of California Phi Iota at San Diego State University. The Chapter’s Charter will remain revoked for a period of no less than five years.

It is with sad abandon that this has occurred within the brotherhood. The PKT mission, vision, and values are intrinsic to operational success and growth. May we all learn from this and know that as undergraduates or alumni we are not only lifetime members but lifetime guardians of the ideals of the Phi, the Kappa , and the Theta that started us all. Prayers for a recolonization along those lines in 5 years or so.
